Like a huge diamond glittering on the National Mall, the newly renovated U.S. Botanic Garden Conservatory greets citizens and international visitors on the west side of the U.S. Capitol. The Garden now includes the public display gardens at Frederic Auguste Bartholdi Park, the Conservatory and the Administrative Building; the plant production and support area house the greenhouse bays and maintenance.

The Conservatory is a large Lord & Burnham greenhouse divided into different rooms; each demonstrates a different type habitat. The recently restored structure follows the original design of the building; the Jungle, (previously The Palm House) also follows the original plan but now includes a visitor walkway positioned 24 feet above the floor. Often thought of as a plant museum the various rooms, the formal garden court with fountains, the Orchid House, World Deserts and the Jungle, provide inspiring displays of plants from these environments.

The United States Botanic Gardens in Washington DC is a relaxing oasis in the heart of our Nation's Capitol. It's a national treasure.
